About West Ham United
West Ham United is the name of one of the most legendary soccer teams in the history of English soccer. West Ham United currently play in the English Premier League, which is the highest division of soccer in the country of England. The club was founded in 1895, but in the early days of the club they were not known originally as West Ham, but as Thames Ironworks.
From last season, West Ham United are not playing anymore at the Boleyn Ground (also known as Upton Park) stadium. The Hammers new stadium is the Olympic Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic park which was built before the 2012 London Olympic games and has a capacity of 60,000 seats.
Although the club has not managed to be as successful other clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool, West Ham has had their fair share of success throughout their history. The closest that West Ham United have ever come to winning the Premier League was when they came in 5th place in the 1998-99 Premier League season.
West Ham United have managed to win three FA Cup titles throughout the team existence: 1964, 1975, and 1980. When it comes to European Competition, West Ham United has one silverware in their trophy case - after winning the UEFA Winners' Cup during the 1965 season.
West Ham youth academy has managed to develop some of the best professional football players that played at the highest level like Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand alongside historic icons such as Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst that led England for winning the 1966 World Cup.
As a football side located in London, West Ham has rivalries with fellow inner-city teams like Tottenham, Chelsea & Millwall. West Ham current manager is the Croatian Slaven Bilic and in the hammers current squad you can find well-known players such as Andy Carroll, Mark Noble, Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew.
